Evidence for baryon acoustic oscillations from galaxy–ellipticity correlations

The Baryon Acoustic Oscillations (BAO) feature in the clustering of galaxies or quasars provides a ``standard ruler" for distance measurements cosmology. In this work, we report $2\sim3\sigma$ signal BAO dip galaxy density-ellipticity (GI) cross-correlation functions using spectroscopic sample Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (BOSS) CMASS, combined with deep DESI Legacy Imaging Surveys precise shape measurements. We measure GI correlation and model them linear alignment model. constrain $D_V/r_{\mathrm{d}}$ to redshift $0.57$ precision $3\sim5\%$, depending on details modeling. measurement reduces uncertainty by $\sim10\%$ top that derived from galaxy-galaxy (GG) correlation. More importantly, future large surveys, independent can help sort out systematics studies.
